home improvement

Finally, our LCD tv already mounted on our red wall. This was hubby's weekend project. To have the TV mounted, and install the home theater surround system. Now happily I can say, mission accomplished. He even completed his task by setting up our old home theater system in our bedroom. Hahaha! Sinipag ata!

Actually, I've been begging hubby for weeks now to mount this baby. For fear of any possible accidents by the bratinella ... luckily, it survived and was unharmed while being exposed as a stand alone gadget. I guess Sam's too pre-occupied with her fave Kung Fu Panda movie from our bedroom (yes, we watch this movie everyday!!) thus she never bother to touch the new tv. Hehehe!

Now really, really happy. The family room (purple wall) already equipped with entertainment system as well as our bedroom. And lastly, our living room red wall now with my fave painting ... the Samsung LCD TV with the 6-speakers surround system. Another home improvement mission --accomplished!

Hmmm... think need to buy centerpiece accents too. The existing centerpiece accent kinda boring. Need to spice it up! I can't wait for our incentive release this week for another home shopping! :)

make up essentials

Thanks Gracie for this tag. I am hoping someone to tag me this ... otherwise, will snag it from Kelly sana. Pathetic ba? Hahaha!

I don't put so much make up. In fact, I don't know how to put make-up! My kikay kit consist of basic essentials only. Actually, just in case my kikay pouch gets lost, ay patay na... I need to buy the entire stuff! Hahaha! Also, I am one boring make up user and absolutely a BRAND loyalist. I just stick to the basics and my hiyang products. I am afraid to experiment and try new products, for fear of getting acne and skin allergies. It would be best to stick with the natural ingredients than look for the best acne treatment for the skin. Saves you lots of money ... and time too!

So what are my type five beauty/make-up essentials.

1. CLINIQUE 3-step skin care.

I started using this more than five years ago. I love this stuff. Hiyang face ko. (parang commercial noh?!) But, I am so "tamad" to strictly follow the regimen. I regularly use the soap (kasi nasa bathroom sink) then when I am in rush ... moisturizer na lang. The set includes moisturizing soap, clarifying lotion and dramatically-different moisturizer.
2. CLINIQUE stay matte sheer pressed powder. Preferred color: stay neutral for my skin complexion.
3. CLINIQUE eye-shadow quad. So love the earth-tone colors. Easy to layer and easy blend.
4. BODY SHOP liquid eye-liner. Easy to use and with it's liquid consistency, easy to create the dramatic look.

5. BODY SHOP Lip and Cheek Stain -- so love this! I think most of the girls use this magic wand wonder. Gives you the "flushed" look anytime! So tweetums! Hahaha!
Actually, I have few non-negotiable essentials such as my Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer, MAC and Clinique lipsticks and Maybelline double lash mascara. But since I was tagged to give five items only ... of course need to follow. lol.

Care to share your make up essentials Chat, JoyD and Tet?

beauty schools

My best friend and I been thinking of starting up a business venture that we would like to take as a sideline from our present work. We thought of putting up a business with small investment requirement and of course, something we are so passionate about and we both love … a beauty salon! We saw a very good potential market for our beauty clinic (including spa services) inside our neighborhood. We admit, we are both novice when it comes to beauty-related industry but we found there are available beauty schools on the net such as Regency Beauty Institute. With its in-depth training program recognized by the US Department of Education, getting good quality cosmetic education will be no problem. The school offers training program that will suit our business requirement. My friend who is more the artistic one can enroll in their hairstyling program to learn the basic and advance haircutting and styling techniques. While I am more interested on the business side of the salon, I can enroll on salon business and retailing program. I also like the unique training approach it provides its students. The curriculum includes workshops, rehearsals and performance based approach that ensures students learn more and get the best quality education from the beauty school. Truly an ideal school for beginners like us.

Sam's 4th birthday party plans ...

It’s the time of the month again … July as the start of my party preparation for the bratinella. Since we are not allowed to have a party at Sam’s school, we opted to celebrate her 4th birthday with a simple party. No definite plans yet, but I am thinking of the following options:

Party theme: STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

1. rent a small function room or clubhouse to hold the party. Preferably near Pasig or Ortigas area so her classmates can attend.

2. hold the party at Mc Donald’s El Pueblo with party theme : Strawberry Shortcake in Mc Donalds land or something like that… hehehe! Ipilit talaga Strawberry Shortcake.

3. hold the party again at our residence to save on cost! another street party! lol.

4. rent BOUNCE party venue for non-stop inflatables party!

5. rent a resto for a private party : Friday’s or Hard Rock. -- more budget needed for this option

Party date: November 8, Saturday.

I am tweaking some numbers for my party budget. Need to set the budget and expenses as early as now to avoid surprises come November. Moreover, I vowed hubby its not going to be a grand affair. It will be just simple celebration this year with no much frills! Oh, I'll try my best ... Hahaha! Let's wait and see.

great finds: modern furniture store

During my two weeks vacation, I've been very busy with some home improvements such as re-arranging our bedroom furniture and fixtures, securing new door locks for our bedroom, getting new household items and changing our bedroom look and theme. I am thinking of getting modern furniture pieces to keep our bedroom design updated.

I’ve been planning for several months to change the master’s bedroom overall theme, and I just found the perfect site to complement the modern bedroom look I so want. Thanks to www.eroomservice.com I was able to find modern furniture that matches our modern minimalist look. From the cabinets, dressers and bed design, the bedroom set is simply perfect for my taste. So excited … I can’t wait to show my great finds to hubby. I am sure he will approve and love the new design for our bedroom especially with the modern furniture pieces I've chosen for our bedroom.

looking for party entertainment.

I've been planning and coordinating parties for my friends and relatives for years now. Nope, I am not doing it as a professional service but out of my love and passion for parties! They usually ask for party ideas and assistance since they know I've got quite a good number of trusted and dependable party suppliers. Besides, they've seen parties I've arranged for my kids and immediate families, and they seem to like the outcome of my coordinated parties. Of course, I am happy and thankful they loved my parties.
Thus, I am not surprised when my cousin from California asked for assistance on her upcoming debut party. I would definitely love to help! For starters, I gave her option to hold a dinner-dance type of party with live band or mobile dance party. I guess nowadays, hiring DJ for parties are sure hit among college students! I asked her to check out san diego disc jockey since I've read great reviews from their previous clienteles. The company boasts extensive selection of music database that would definitely fit every guests' genre which I assume mostly the hiphop and R&B crowd. Think they also offer personal playlist that would be perfect to suit the host's party music selection. Really great, huh? The company even offers variety of party package from preparation, to music materials, equipment rental taking in consderation the budget of the celebrant. Really a blessing for budget-conscious like my cousin. And since my cousin lives at Lakeside, California travel cost already FREE of charge! Lastly, with their pool of talented and well-experienced DJs, I am sure her debut party will be a great hit and talk of the town.
Unfortunately, I wish I can join her on this special day of her life. With my previous work commitment, I am afraid I'll just have to take the sidelines now and offer all supplier list I can give her to ensure success of her party. To my dear cus April, wishing you all the best!

shoe hunt for kuya

Ico went home the other day from school asking if I can get him new pair of school shoes. As per him, the last pair of shoes I bought is too dressy for his everyday use. Dressy, eh? Never thought of that. He is asking me if I can get him more of a rugged, sport-type of school shoes that he can use for running and brisk walking. Well, you know how teen kids are. Anyway, I saw on the web nice, durable and comfortable shoes that would fit his preference, Ecco shoes. Aside from the stylish design and comfort, I've read reviews that the product uses 100% environment-friendly materials from production, packaging to the finished product itself. Something notable and worth considering these days. I think he'll love the idea of shopping while helping the environment. Anyway, I hope he'll approve of my design choices below. Otherwise, I'll be back to shoe hunting again.

sink shopping online

When we are doing our house construction two years ago, I specifically asked our contractor to splurge and install good quality materials on two parts of the house: kitchen and bathrooms. I particularly insist on high quality and durable fixtures such as tiles, faucets, showers and sinks since this is subject to wear and tear over time. True to his word, he made sure to install good quality fixtures such as shower heads and faucets from Kohler. Kinda pricey compared to other bathroom fixture brands, but really durable and tested over time. Hence, when I saw available farmhouse sinks on the net, I immediately asked him to consider using this for our guest bathroom. Well aside from using durable marble material, aesthetic-wise, it will blend very well with our modern-minimalist theme. Unfortunately with the house-turn over deadline to complete, it was impossible to purchase the sink online. But nevertheless, hubby and I vowed on our next house construction (hopefully couple of years from now); will definitely place our order ahead of time.

For this tag, I'll cheat a little. I am posting a picture of my precious kids, Ico and Sam. This picture was taken April 2005. I so love this picture because it was their first picture session together at Picture Company, Podium. If you know my son, he's really camera shy. It took me a lot of pleading (and bribing) for him to join the session. He prefers to hold the camera than pose for pictures.
If you'll look at them, you will see no physical similarities. Totally opposite in built, complexion and looks. But despite having different dads, they love each other. Ico is very much caring and big kuya to Sam, while Sam is very sweet to Kuya. Seeing them close and loving to each other ... ahhh truly priceless! I guess one of the reasons why there is no sibling rivalry between the two, almost ten years age gap of Ico and Sam. Ico is matured and responsible, and Sam is always treated the baby of the family.

living in style : wireless home theater system

Being stuck at home after the surgery doesn't mean I am all useless. Since I am enjoying my two-week office hiatus, I've diverted all my attention to beautifying our home and probably do some home improvement. I've been planning to do some changes in our bedroom and family room for months now and I think this is the perfect time for me to do just what I've dreamed of.
For starters, I am thinking of fixing our home theater in our family room. For months now, I've slowly transformed our family room to office work area due to the location of our internet and phone outlets. I've been bugging the husband to change our existing internet modem to wireless router to lessen all the exposed wires and cables in our family room. Aside from the modem cables, the exposed wires of our home theater system is also an ugly and messy sight. Makes the room cluttered and dangerous for kids to play around.

Luckily, I found on the net wireless home theater systems I've been dreaming to have for my family room. SONY BRAVIA Wireless Home Theater in Black. It has a 5.1 DVD home-theater system powered with wireless speakers for multi room audio streaming. Very sleek and stylish looking. Can easily be combined with our existing Sony TV to complete the home theater experience. Price really affordable too. I was able to view several wireless home theater brands at shopwiki.com, and I find this item very affordable considering the reliable brand, SONY. The site not only provides various models and brands to choose from, but I can even get the item at the best listing price of the stores Now that is real savings! I am sure this baby will look awesome in our living room. Perfect answer to my cable-free prayers. And with a lazy-boy arm chair to boot, that would definitely be living in style!

trade show booths

One of my foreign partners, Tata Communications called early today requesting for possible event with our company by next month. Since they’ve recently changed their company name from VSNL International to Tata Communications, it is a must and appropriate to re-launch the new company for the corporate market’s awareness.

Because of this, we’ve been thinking of setting up an event probably provide a one-day symposium that will re-launch their company brand name, products and new management. No confirmed theme yet but it will definitely require big publicity work like a trade show booths. Complete with all the works such as banner stands at the entire venue, use of eye-catching booths with pipe and drape as well as strategic reception tables adorned with the company’s logo for table skirts. Just like the Camelback Displays Inc. A professional one-stop trade show company experienced in catering large exhibits set up from design details, conceptualizing to delivery. The company even offers more than the exhibit set up, but can even extend its services to stage and lighting trade show requirements, use of graphic tents for outdoor events, brochure holders for product catalogues and presentation tools and crowd control. Really a one-stop shop to cater our company event next month. Definitely a must check site for our upcoming event with our FA-client.

blogging from medical city.

So this is me a day after my surgery. Kinda pasaway pa din. Still blogging, checking out online stuff available on the web (mostly on sale due to 4th of July holiday), learning twitter, chatting and sending YM messages to my friends..and yes, really bored and can't stop web surfing!

My doctor caught me online yesterday and asked me to stop working!! No stressful activity for me! --- working daw?! lol. Nope, doc! more of shopping siguro! my stress-reliever! hahaha!

Anyway, I heart my surgeon so much. He's really good. Very accommodating and always checks on me. He usually do his rounds twice a day, morning and afternoon to check my progress regularly. He also ensures I am ok and in no pain. He even tried to follow my request of "no visible marks for the incision please!" and made sure the marks hidden through my usual neck creases. I was told by one of the resident doctors they had a difficult time removing the cyst since the incision was quite far from my actual lump. Ang vain ng pasyente kasi!! lol. But really thankful he obliged to my request.

So my heartfelt thanks to my surgeon, Dr. Michael Edmond Dazo and the rest of the surgery team. Thank you also to Dr. Erik Pascual (cardio) and Dr. Coz (anaesthesiologist). Thank you for the safe and successful operation. :)

hubby's life insurance

Hubby’s life insurance payment is due next week. Since I am stuck here in the hospital, need to find ways how I can settle his quarterly dues to avoid penalty. I don’t want to be a delinquent member since I know how important this obligation to secure our future.

I’ve heard some sad news from my friends and relatives how frightening having no insurance these days. Aside from losing loved ones, the family is left with debts to settle hospitalization and burial expenses, making it more difficult for the family to move on. Thus, it is very important to consider getting term life insurance to protect and prepare the family in case of emergency.

I’ve found good life insurance options on the web. There are options of buying term life policy online without the need for medical exam. Initial life insurance quotes can be computed by encoding the individual’s desired length term, coverage and mode of payment. As easy as 1-2-3, life insurance quotes already available for consideration.

AWK Tag No. 1

Our dear friend Aggie started this weekly fun tag.

Topic No. 1: Life After the Wedding - the Married Life.
What are the things you want them to know about life after the wedding?
Just like Aggie said, It's no bed of roses nor a fairytale ending with no "and they live happily ever after ..." ending. The couples must work together, learn to accept each other, warts and all ... and compromise!!
If there is one thing I learned from my husband, the word compromise works for us! (though sometimes I do get my own way! lol.) It does't mean giving-in easily but you find ways to meet half-way and agree on something.
Like I've said to my blogger friends before, I guess it helps that my hubby is the level-headed one, the more "mature" person in our relationship. Despite all my complaints and yaking on about anything, he lets me see everything in different perspective ... not just my "own" selfish perpsective. O di ba, tina-tyaga nya i-explain lahat sa akin! :) Which makes me appreciate and understands everything better.
Secondly, HUMILITY. Yes, you and your hubby fight or argue sometimes but that doesn't mean it is the end of the world for both of you. After the heated fight, I always notice with some couple "pride" steps-in. Making it hard to talk, listen and forgive. Recognize that you've hurt each others feeling when fighting by throwing hateful words. But after the fight, one must be humble to apologize or say sorry. It doesn't mean saying sorry the other person is right...but sorry that you said those hateful words. ( I am lucky that hubby always take the initiative to start talking and saying sorry after an argument. If not, super pride ako... baka lagi na kami wala na-resolve every away! hehehe!)

missing my client ...

Got sad news from one of my good clients today she informed me that she will be migrating to the US anytime next month. She’s been looking forward to their family petition papers for months now and this is welcome news to her.

Initially she plans to stay in New Jersey together with her family, but later on she’s thinking of moving to Philadelphia to start life of her own. Though unsure yet with her future here, but as early as now she’s starting to check out Philadelphia jobs available for her. Hopefully she can start her business career once she's settled in Philly. I'll definitely miss my client once she leaves for US. She's one of the sweetest, and thoughtful clients in the telecoms industry. But I am sure she'll be happy since she'll be finally reunited with her family. Goodluck ,girl! Wishing you all the best!

medical treatment

Getting sick is no big deal. With the expensive medicine and hospital expenses, option for surgery is not the usual consideration of individuals.

Like in my case, I was recently diagnosed with a benign thryo-glossal duct cyst and I need to schedule for immediate surgery for cyst removal before it grows. Good thing I have my medicare supplement from our company to cover my hospitalization expenses. Otherwise, with the costly hospital bills, I would probably think twice before considering immediate removal of the cyst.
