LNP Week

August is the month of LNP, in our side of the world known as Linggo Ng Wika. This is the month wherein kids are encouraged to speak in their own native tongue, in Filipino as respect to our national language and of course to promote nationalism.

This year, the K2 class Rm 4 danced their way to show respect to our language by starting their performance with their own song interpretation of Bahay Kubo and ending in a non-traditional way of street dance by Gary V's famous hit song, Hataw Na! It was a splendid performance. Kudos to their teacher, Teacher Sheanne for teaching the kids to dance the Hataw way!! :)

school is out

No more classes ...No more books ... No more teachers with dirty looks! Hooray...School is over! Well, this is what I've been hearing from my little school girl since yesterday. Naturally, she can't contain her happiness and delight with the end of classes. It means no more sleeping early, no more fight scenes in the morning, and no more force-eating for breakfast. It's all sleep, sleep, sleep ... play, play,play ... tv, tv and more tv time for her! Perfect world for the kids ... and I am so green with envy. I wish I am still a child.

And to make the most out of summer, other than the planned vacation trips, or enrolling them to summer sports program, I am thinking of getting them new game tables for recreation and play. Of course not only for the kids' enjoyment but for adults too! Fair enough ... so it's summer fun, fun, fun not only for kids but for the kids at heart. :)

Sam's First Day in School

Just want to share Samantha's First Day in school at St. Paul College of Pasig. She's officially enrolled as Kinder 1, AM class. Though, she's not happy to be back ... yes, waking up as early as 6am proves to be a "big" commotion in our household lately, but I think with just a few days more, she'll adjust perfectly.

Anyway, some changes I noticed this year at the Kinder class. Sam's class size increased from a small class of 12 students last year, they are now maximum 22 students per class. Quite many, don't you think so? Her previous classamtes were re-grouped or distributed to different sections, hence only five of them remained as classmates this year. Luckily, this includes her best friend Valerie.

Meet the St Paul College of Pasig, Nursery Class Room 5-AM. Adorable, sweet and amazing kids of Teacher Anne. My daughter misses them so much. She's counting the days 'til she sees her classmates again. Oh, summer time! She's already bored with all the DVDs and Nick Jr. shows now. Need to find creative and fun activity for the little girl asap.

Back from our short holiday break from Bangkok, Thailand.

And before I post our recent trip pictures, allow me to share some of Samantha's field demo presentation held last February 15 at St. Paul grounds. The nursery class performed a flag dance to commemorate the conversion of Saul (St. Paul). They were assigned to carry and march the flag of Turkey. Really cute watching the little girls danced and performed their number.

my halloween pumpkin

As I sort our recent family pictures, I realized I forgot to share and upload Samantha's Halloween pictures here. Pardon me for posting it quite late... anyway, better than never. Hahaha! This year, my little girl came as the Halloween pumpkin. Just look at her ... ain't she adorable in those orange-y pumpkin costume! (love your own, syempre! lol.)

Halloween Party at Mommy's office : The little girl enjoyed her Halloween Party at Bayan this year. Aside from participating with the games, she had her face painted with flowers, and happily went home with looottsss of candies and loots. We were able to fill up one SM plastic bag from her office-to-office trick or treat activity.

Halloween Activity in school. Kids were asked to come with their simplest halloween costume. (yeah, right!) Which I don't think was followed by some pasaway Moms. Madami stage mothers noh?! Hahaha! Just look at the pictures below. Obviously, madami kuma-career! lol. Not me... one costume for all the parties worn by Sam. Tipid noh?! lol.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Together with all the parents and nursery class of SPCP, Samantha and I joined last Tuesday their first-ever educational field trip. Looking at the pictures below, you'll see how the girls enjoyed the trip to the maxx!! It was a day filled with so much activities, food, laughter, and FUN,FUN, FUN under the sun.

Linggo ng Wika Presentation

Just came this morning from Sam’s Linggo ng Wika celebration wherein the nursery class danced the itik-itik. They all came wearing their best Filipiniana costume and they all looked so adorable and lovely complete with their abaca slippers.

While watching the show, I was really pleased that she danced the itik-itik … very cooperative and unafraid by the hundreds of parents watching the show. It was her first time to face big crowd such as this and I was really proud how she handled herself. No stage frights. Despite all the cameras, beaming light fixtures of the stage and hundreds of unfamiliar faces, she danced the itik-itik way. Truly proud and happy! Haaayyy...my bratinella is really a certified school girl.

food sharing with mommy and daddy --- we are asked to bring Filipiniana food. Thus, I called Red Ribbon to deliver pansit palabok ...believe me, the kids loved the pansit and chicharon so much. big hit especially lapid's chicharon!

Sam's busy school week

Aside from being busy with work lately, I've been extra busy teaching and preparing Sam for her "paper game" activity this week. This is how St. Paul introduce the assessment or examinations concept to kids .. a paper game . I guess they don't want to put pressure on the kids by introducing the big "E" at nursery level. Aside from the paper game which covers ( L, T, and I ) , colors, numbers and shapes , they have a one-on-one oral exams too! I am very confident she knows the subject matter. But what I am afraid of, is her lack of "listening skills". You see she's not good in following directions ... she prefers to do things on her own. Simply pasaway! For example, if I ask her to circle the correct answer, she'll beg me to color it instead. If I insists, she'll stop doing her work. Haaayyy...

See how she obediently follows her teacher than me! Sus... I can see how she loves her school principal so much, Sister Teresita. The sweet principal is really close to the kids. As a matter of fact, the kids adores her. You can see them hugging and kissing their school principal whenever they see her along the hallways or corridors.

By the way, on August 28 the nursery kids will dance Itik-Itik as part of their Linggo ng Wika celebration. Kids are asked to dress up in baro't saya complete with bakya or abaca slippers. Parents are invited to watch on this day too. My MIL was so excited when she learned this, so excited that she bought Sam her Filipiniana costume last Monday from the Pasig market. Buti na lang...because I am really busy to get her the outfit. Hahaha! Will post Sam's pix after her performance. I can't wait to see her perform the itik-itik dance. This will be their first school activity with parents. Haaayyy... the joys of parenting talaga!

Woke up early today , 6AM!! I am rarely awake during this time. But today, is a different day. This will be the start of the many school days of our lives! I have a school girl now and I need to change my daily habits. No more late night dinner and blogging. I need to be up and perky everyday for the little girl.

I am very much excited since its Sam's first day of school. So eagerly excited that I prepared the night before all her school things. And this morning, prepared her baon too!

Check out how simple her snacks today: oreo cookies, hotdogs, chuckie drink and grape juice.

Tomorrow's snack menu: munchkins, chips ahoy, chukie and juice. Hah, I am prepared with two-week snack menu. Just hope she won't get tired of her baon. Hehehe!

on school dilemma

Last week was a very busy week for me. Busy not because of work, but busy with the little girl's school problem. It never occured to me that I'll have a last minute school dilemma. Crazy, don't you agree? Just when all the kids all over the metro already started their schooling, I am still looking for the right school for my bratinella on the last week of June. Hahaha!

Anyway, a very important decision was made in less than 24 hours. After seeking various inputs from other mommy bloggers, friends, parent colleagues and with my MIL we've finally decided to enrol Samantha to a new school, St. Paul Pasig for nursery. It was a very tough decision for us since we are pro-Poveda education eversince. We know once we've decided ... no more turnng back for the next years.
